As a 19-year-old bike racer, I first organized some events to simply create a calender for myself! While I swung from racer to student, commuter to journalist, advocate to promoter, I continually expanded my passion for bicycles. Road racing then included gravel, cyclo-cross and of late bikepacking. My legs took me to the European peloton; but my passion for bicycles went beyond racing.
While I scored some victories on the bike, I acquired notoriety as event producer and race announcer. In short, I went into the "Moments Business." Serving as a TV journalist for the Outdoor Life Network, I traveled throughout America and Europe covering events ranging from one day classics to Grand Tours. Working for decades producing events ranging from the Sea Otter Classic to the National Championships to the NORBA Series. After announcing at key events in San Francisco, New York and Philadelphia, the UCI selected me to serve as the first English announcer at the World Cyclo-cross Championships, which led to my working at the road worlds.
While creating moments as a storyteller, I developed a passion for coaching beginners and novices through the Best Buddies Challenge rides and their amazing Best Buddies Breakaway Camps. After also producing some of the largest cyclo-cross events in America, I put together a cadre of colleagues to create Domestique Events. With a tag line that reads "To Guide, To Serve, To Inspire," we created events - ranging from modest charity rides to daunting gravel epics - that pressed people to their aspirational horizons and brought them home.
