Harlan Kimball

About

Growing up in New England, Harlan spent a lot of time fishing for Stripers, Bluefish and Bluefin Tuna with friends and family. Cruising around Cape Cod Bay looking for boils of feeding fish will always be one of his favorite things to do. During his time in Vermont he was able to ski as much as possible while also fishing small creeks in his spare time. He moved out to Colorado to attend the University of Denver for a degree in Marketing and decided this was the place to be. Throwing hoppers and streamers while enjoying some ice cold Coors Light with friends is his favorite weekend activity. He's excited to be a part of the Cutthroat team, so stop by and be sure to say what's up.

Eagle River Float
Silverthorne, CO
Fed by the Gore and Sawatch mountains, the Eagle is the lesser-known gem of central Colorado. Eagle River fly fishing hits its peak around the 4th of July. Because the river flows through red sandstone mountains, it is greatly influenced during rain showers. Once runoff subsides and the river clears, the Eagle is most efficiently fished from a raft. A float trip allows anglers to fish many of the private stretches on the river to near-virgin trout. The river boasts great hatches, including one of the best caddis hatches in the country, and offers a healthy population of browns and rainbows.

On a float trip your guide will handle the navigation and rowing while providing instruction for casting and catching Colorado’s finest. For most, it’s enjoyable to cover more distance without exerting much effort. You can also reach more water that wade fishermen aren’t able to cover.

Most trip groups meet at the shop around 7:30 a.m., but we are happy to adjust start times and location to accommodate your preferences whenever possible. Give or take the travel time to where you are fishing, half days return around 1 p.m. and full days return around 5 p.m. Full day trips include lunch and refreshments (water, soda, etc.) Consider the energy level of your group when choosing between a full or half day, and remember that no matter what type of trip you book, we cannot accommodate children who are under 10 years old and/or unable to swim. The price of the trip is all inclusive. We will provide rods, reels, boots, waders and flies. The only thing you need to cover is a fishing license and gratuity.
