I was exposed to mountain culture in my college days at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and spent countless summers planting roots as a mountain guide in Grand Teton National Park. My passion for rock climbing takes me to the southwest every spring and fall frequenting areas like Indian Creek near Moab Utah and Red Rock Canyon outside of Las Vegas. In the winter, you can usually find me in the Tetons hunting for untouched powder and teaching snow science. Cast your Legacy ™ New England Fly Company was founded by long time fly fishers Rowan Confrey and Isaac Niblack. Over 25 years of fishing across North America, and chatting with shops, fishing buddies and riverfolk, they realized that fly anglers, especially those just getting into the sport, wanted a deeper, more thoughtful, informative, and fulfilling experience than what was usually offered. They believe that... Hi there! I grew up in the Front Range of Colorado, learning to ski as kid and going on camping, fishing and canoeing trips with my family growing up. While living on the East Coast for college and work, I discovered climbing. I learned to climb in the Gunks (short for Shawangunks) in upstate New York. I moved home to the west just before 2020 and lived all over Colorado before relocating to Jackson Hole Wyoming. I am an Apprentice Ski, Rock and Alpine guide certified through the AMGA, I also hold a CPR/AED and Wilderness First Responder Certification and have completed AIARE's Avalanche Rescue, Professional Level 1 Certification and Instructor Training Course. I love to ski and climb equally, I spend my spring and fall seasons climbing all over North America, some of my favorite venues are Red Rocks Nevada, Moab and Indian Creek in Utah, with some personal sport climbing in Wyoming. I spend the short summer season in the alpine regions of Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Teton National Park. Winters are filled with famous Teton powder, skiing in the backcountry zones of Teton Pass, Grand Teton National Park and teaching AIARE Avalanche Education courses. I specialize in affinity programs for women, queer and genderfluid folks. The mountains are for everyone and my goal as a guide is to meet folks where they are and provide a safe, energetic and engaging day out in the mountains. Jackson Hole Mountain Guides is the largest permit holder in North America so reach out and let's get your multi-season adventures on the calendar!
With roots in Michigan's storied trout waters, Isaac brings years of guiding experience and a deep passion for wild fisheries to the streams, rivers, coasts and ponds of New England. Now based near one Maine's most accessible landlocked salmon runs—he combines local knowledge with a conservation-minded approach to guiding. An active member of wild trout organizations like the Native Fish Coalition, Isaac is committed to protecting the native species and habitats that make this region special. Off the clock, you'll find him e-scouting remote backcountry ponds and planning multi-day fly fishing adventures deep in the wilderness. When trout aren't on the line, he's chasing striped bass along New England's rugged shoreline, casting to blitzing fish in the surf.
Craig is an IFMGA Guide that has worked in the outdoor industry for over 20 years. Beginning as a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) instructor where he accrued over 100 weeks in the field, Craig is passionate about helping others foster deep and meaningful connections to wilderness. From a 40 day canoe expedition in Australia to climbing unnamed peaks in Alaska, Craig's penchant for adventure has taken him to some unique places. He is a recipient of the American Alpine Club, Copp-Dash Inspire Award and the Gor-tex Shipton-Tilman grant for his expedition to the remote Neacola Range of Alaska where he established multiple first-ascents, traveling on handmade wooden skis and pack-rafting 70 miles to the ocean. Throughout his guiding career, Craig has continued to merge his artistic and outdoor passions. In 2017, Craig assisted a paraplegic climber ascend El Capitan, and produced an award winning film telling the story. I’m Akio Joy (he/him), co-owner and guide with Beartooth Mountain Guides. I grew up in the small town of Placerville, California, where I discovered climbing and skiing amid the rugged terrain of the Sierra Nevada foothills. At 17, I made my way to Montana, jumped into guiding, and once I finished college, I committed full time to sharing the mountains with others. In 2023 I earned IFMGA certification through the American Mountain Guides Association — a milestone that reflects my dedication to professionalism, partnership, and equity in the outdoors. Over more than ten years of guiding, I’ve done everything from technical rock and ice first ascents (WI5+ and up to 5.13) to alpine climbs and big wall routes like the Shield on El Capitan. I also have a passion for ski guiding, avalanche education, and teaching technical courses. Outside of guiding, I hold a B.S. in Mathematics (with a focus in Teaching), and I’ve had the privilege of guiding in many places — from the US and Canada to the Alps, Norway, Turkey, Tanzania, and beyond. My favorite place to recreate? Just south of the Beartooths, on the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone — there’s something about that landscape that grounds me. Whether I’m navigating ice, rock, snow, or alpine, I aim to bring others into the wild with respect, skill, humility, and joy.
I'm a passionate off-shore/near-shore captain who loves to help my clients land the big ones. I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay operating boats of all sizes, but moved to the world-class fishery off the Outer Banks to launch my business. I'm skilled at finding tuna, mahi, wahoo, billfish, and a variety of other game fish. In my opinion, there's nothing better than a day on the water, and I aim to provide a first-class experience for every client who boards my boat.
Koby’s love for the mountains began in high school when an outdoor program first introduced him to climbing and mountaineering. From rime ice covered days on Mt. Hood to aching fingers after a weekend of climbing the volcanic tuff at Smith Rock, he quickly realized that challenge and joy often come hand in hand in the outdoors. His pursuit of adventure carried him across the country to Bates College in Maine, where he earned a degree in Environmental Studies in 2017. Immersed in the rugged traditional climbing ethic of Northeast climbing, he cut his teeth on the granite walls and alpine terrain of the Mt. Washington Valley—a place that not only honed his skills but also launched his guiding career. Now based in Portland, Oregon, Koby guides rock climbing, alpine climbing, and backcountry skiing adventures throughout the Cascades and beyond. Whether it’s long summer days climbing in the alpine or early morning missions to ski first tracks, he’s passionate about helping others experience the same sense of adventure, connection, and discovery that first drew him to the mountains. The night before Eros Poli took victory atop Mont Ventoux he couldn’t sleep. It was not like he was dreaming of victory or even had the slightest idea the next day’s stage would change his life forever. It was just that it was hot. Unbearably, unsleepably hot in his less-than stellar French hotel. His roommate had taken his mattress off the bed and was sleeping on the small balcony outside their room. And the man who would shortly become known as Monsieur Ventoux was watching football, Italy vs. Brazil in the World Cup final, to be exact. Italy lost. The following morning as Eros dragged his weary, tired legs out of bed and down the stairs, as there was no lift, James Brown came into his head. “I feel good, I knew that I would now,” started to repeat over and over in his head. As it would the rest of the day. He felt good and the rest, as they say, is history.

I am a full time guide based out of Victor, Idaho, specializing in person-centered mountain education and experiences. I grew up in rural Massachusetts and was fortunate to be introduced to the outdoors at a young age through excursions to the mountains, forests, and rivers of New England with my family. Backcountry snowboarding was my passion, and I cut my teeth as a teenager on the steep, icy slopes of the White Mountains of New Hampshire and the Green Mountains of Vermont. I pursued an undergraduate degree in Environmental Policy & Education from Colby College in Maine, guiding and teaching during college and continuing full time after graduation. I now call the Teton Mountains home, and spend my summers and winters guiding there, with springs and falls spent on trips to other ranges. I’ve guided skied, and climbed across the Colorado Rockies, Tetons, North Cascades, Alaska Range, Iceland, and the French & Swiss Alps. Currently, I work predominantly for Exum Mountain Guides, Yostmark Backcountry Tours, and the American Avalanche Institute in the Tetons. When I’m not guiding or instructing, you’ll find me with my nose in a book - likely about the American West - or cooking a tasty meal with my partner or friends.

We have helped major universities with trips focused on geology, photography and creative writing. We’ve hosted journalists and even helped with a funeral. Rafting is only one of the things that we love. We climb mountains, rock and ice. We mountain bike, backpack, surf, whitewater and sea kayak, cross-country, resort and backcountry ski. We count owls and desert tortoises, shoot photos, write guide books, teach skiing and raise children. In short, we love the outdoors and spend every moment we can outside. We have a tremendous amount of experience and expertise. Because of our love and experience of wild places and our constant desire to be outside, we have gained a knowledge base that can’t be won through school or training alone. From the top of Denali to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, we’ve been there and become better for it. We have extensive knowledge of and certification in whitewater rescue, climbing safety and technique, wilderness first aid and CPR. In addition to a deep reservoir of personal experience, our rafting guides are licensed by the state of Utah, have Wilderness First Responder and/or First Aid/CPR certifications, and are insured. Originally from New Jersey, Carl quit “Wall Street” and NYC and moved to Salt Lake City in September 1997 to, as his wife puts it, ski. After the first 100-ski-day winter, he discovered the many other outdoor activities that Utah has to offer. Climbing and kayaking quickly became passions, and in 2003, he started Red River Adventures and began rafting operations. Red River added climbing and canyoneering trips to the mix in 2005, followed by skiing trips in 2016. Carl climbs rock, ice, mixed, and alpine, ski tours, and rafts with equal vigor. Certifications: Licensed Utah and Idaho River Guide, AMGA Rock Instructor, AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, AMGA SPI provider, AMGA Apprentice Ski & Alpine Guide, Wilderness First Responder, AIARE Pro 1

Our mission at High Sierra Snowcat is to provide a welcome alternative to the traditional ski resort, by providing an accessible option for backcountry skiers to ride remote terrain, sleep in cozy overnight accommodations, with safe and exceptional service. We want you to have the best day ever! Founded in 2012 by Mike Deacon and Tim Robinson, High Sierra Snowcat was providing a human-powered overnight backcountry experience with the convenience of arriving via snowcat. Drew Layman purchased HSS after more than a decade of experience as a ski patroller and ski guide all over the world. Under this new ownership, HSS will continue to provide high-quality guided adventures with a new focus on cat-skiing throughout the terrain. Located on the East Side of the Sierra Nevada, High Sierra Snowcat combines the use of snowcats, ski touring, and yurts to provide a safe backcountry experience in some of the wildest terrain left in California. We operate within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest with nearly 9,000 acres of skiable terrain across multiple basins surrounding Virginia Lake. We operate under an Outfitting and Guiding permit issued by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
Polar adventurer, expedition guide, and educator, Eric Larsen has spent the past 25 years traveling in some of the most remote and extreme environments on the planet. To date, Eric has completed more North and South Pole expeditions than any other American in history. Included in that list are the first ever summer expedition to the North Pole as well as a world record expedition to the South Pole, North Pole and top of Mt. Everest all within a 365-day period. In May of 2014, Eric and teammate Ryan Waters traveled unsupported and unassisted from northern Ellesmere Island to the Geographic North Pole in 53 days in what realistically will be the last North Pole expedition in history due to Climate Change. The journey was featured on the Discovery networks globally. His award-winning book 'On Thin Ice: An Epic Final Quest into the Melting Arctic' also details this adventure. Eric's adventure interests and accomplishments span a wide variety of outdoor disciplines including a first ascent in the Himalayas in Nepal, dog sled expeditions and racing, winter bike adventures, multi sport traverses and much more. An accomplished guide, Eric regularly leads 'Last Degree' expeditions to both the North and South Poles as well as a month-long Greenland ice cap traverse. Each year, he teaches several skills-based courses that focus on winter expedition skills in Minnesota, Colorado and Norway. In January 2021, Eric was diagnosed with stage 3b colorectal cancer, and after a difficult two year battle is "NED" (No Evidence of Disease). He is currently writing a book detailing his 'cancer expedition'. Eric has dedicated his adult life to sharing his love for the outdoor world with others. Originally from Wisconsin, Eric now lives in Crested Butte, Colorado with his wife and two kids. His current no shower record is 72 days.
Paulo began mountain biking at the early age of 16, and soon his love for bicycles, road cycling, and mechanics were there. Almost a decade later, he decided to take the risk and become a bicycle mechanic, but he never stopped participating in granfondos and amateur races. He joined inGamba as a mechanic in 2019 and now he is also one of our guides.
Dan grew up in the powder-starved wasteland of Southern California, where nobody owns a snowmobile but seemingly everybody owns a convertible and tiny dog. Fortunately, his parents had better sense than that, as well as an old A-frame ski cabin in the Sierra Nevada’s where his dad taught him to ski by abandoning him atop runs far beyond a 3-year old’s capabilities. After surviving this trial by fire, Dan attended the University of California, Berkeley for college where he learned to rock climb and ski tour. It was during this time that any semblance of a straight-and-narrow career path was lost. Dan completed a Master of Science at the University of Utah, writing a thesis on the relationship between climbing, environmental advocacy, and climate change. He promptly moved to Colorado and dove into the American Mountain Guides Association certification process and continued his avalanche education through the American Institute of Avalanche Research and Education. He works as a climbing and mountaineering guide with Kent Mountain Adventure Center in Estes Park, had guided skiing and snowshoeing and taught alpine skiing in Aspen, and is extremely excited to begin his first season with Steamboat Powdercats. Dan has completed the AMGA Rock Guide Course, the AIARE Pro 1, and will be completing his AMGA Alpine Guide Course in the spring. For Dan, the best part of guiding and instructing others is enabling more people to safely experience the joys of the mountains. When he is not on the job making hippie turns in the Steamboat backcountry, Dan can be found getting the screaming barfies ice climbing, consuming potentially unhealthy amounts of coffee, and passing you on the skintrack.

Hi! I've been guiding in the mountains for 20 years and I feel at home on steep rock walls and in steep snowy couloirs. My favorite work days are guiding powder skiing in Hokkaido, complicated alpine traverses in the Cascades of Oregon and Washington, and sunny rock climbing in California. At the age of 11, I began winter camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, which laid the foundation for every adventure I've had in the mountains since. My education in technical climbing began eleven years later in California, where I became a student of Yosemite. In 2009 I moved to the Pacific Northwest to explore glaciated climbing. I've guided throughout the Mountain West and South America. My personal climbing and skiing pursuits have taken him to Patagonia, Nepal, The Alps, Greece, Japan, East Africa, and all across the United States. I have been the owner and operator of Timberline Mountain Guides since 2015. When I'm not in the mountains, I enjoy gardening, reading and dinner with friends.

Babbs thrives on sharing his infectious joy and mountain wisdom, whether teaching avalanche safety or navigating glaciated terrain. Sharing access to unique and incredible places through experiences is what makes guiding the ultimate job for me. It’s what it’s all about! Canyoning and exploring is what I am passionate about in my everyday life. I have spent countless days in the wild over the years exploring unique and undiscovered environments in places internationally and locally. Through my passion for the sport I have been able to curate a large and unique base of personal experience and expertise in adventure canyoning. Guiding and instructing clients over the last 3 years with Wild Sky has been a joy and a privilege for me to share my passion and experience with my clients and students. At Wild Sky Adventure Guides we provide canyon based guided experiences from “mild to wild” as well as many courses for those who already participate in the sport of canyoning, and are looking to advance their skills.
Kendall, who is originally from Virginia, found herself in Driggs, Idaho on a post-college roadtrip—claiming that she was “just looking for a town to be a ski bum in.” Since 2020, she has spent time skiing powder both on and off-the-clock as a ski patroller, avalanche educator, ski and snowboard instructor, and ski guide in the Tetons. She enjoys connecting with folks from all backgrounds and experiences, from beginner skiers & riders to expert backcountry travelers. She is constantly on the search for good snow, good views, good conversation (and good snacks on the skintrack). She is endlessly inspired by the valleys and peaks that she now calls home and can’t wait to explore them with you.

Arctos Guides’ mission is to provide safe, fulfilling mountain adventures for our guests year round in BC and beyond.

Kent has worked with Steamboat Powdercats as the “Master of Chaos” since 2000. He oversees all of SPC’s reservations and guest happiness, company marketing, public relations, the website and lots of additional, chaotic goodness for the company. Along with these backend jobs, he still gets out twice a week or more onto the snow and into the cats, working as either the daily photographer or as a guide. After graduating from The Ohio State University (“OH!”) with a degree in Fisheries Management, Kent decided to follow his passion for “living the good life” and became a guiding vagabond. Using Steamboat Springs as his home base, Kent spent several years in the 90’s pursuing his whitewater rafting, fly-fishing and snowmobiling guide dreams. Then Kent met Steamboat Powdercats. Since 2000, Kent has been one of our managers and now a part owner. Most of our guests talk or email with Kent at some point during their experience with us as his niche is focused on our guest experience and company culture. His positive approach and passion for spreading the Steamboat Powdercats love is contagious. Beyond Powdercats, Kent is raising his daughters Josephine (Jojo) and Sophie to become deep powder hounds and river rats. His wife Jules is a gorgeous, working mom who, among other things, owns her own international business – Verve Culture . Their dog Stevie, the golden retriever who you’ll see roaming the office, says “Woof Woof”. Kent has been a leading advocate for recreational and environmental water management, doing his best to protect and enhance local and regional rivers. He has been a longtime board member and staffer with the Friends of the Yampa and sits on multiple other water related and recreation water and public land boards. He is also an adjunct professor at the Alpine Campus for Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs teaching river and canyon orientation courses. Kent’s most defining moment: “Climbing those last few steps toward Baxter Peak on Mount Katahdin to conclude my 2,100 mile, Appalachian Trail “thru-hike” in 1992 (trail name “Wasitu”).

Drew is an AMGA Certified Ski Guide, giving him access to guide a wide variety of worldwide locations but he chooses to call the Eastern Sierra home. Drew has led multiple successful commercial and personal expeditions to the Himalayas and Karakoram Ranges, Icefield Range in the Yukon, the Kluchevskoy Group in Northeastern Kamchatka, and ski traverses in California. We are one of the oldest snowcat skiing operations in Colorado and have been a mainstay in the deep powder snowcat industry since our inception. The history of Steamboat Powdercats started in 1983 when Jupiter and Barbara Jones convinced the Forest Service to allow them to explore the Buffalo Pass region of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, just north of downtown Steamboat Springs. The combination of massive amounts of snow, a variety of terrain and a convenient location near a major ski resort allowed the Joneses to develop Steamboat Powdercats into one of the finest snowcat operations in North America.

Manuel Cardoso is no longer sitting on the front of the pack, pulling everyone along at what some would describe as a “brisk” pace and what others are unable to describe at all, because they’re too busy gasping for breath and holding onto the wheel in front of them for dear life. Manuel is now sitting just slightly off the back of the pack. As I look back, I realize he has that look on his face. The look which struck fear in the hearts of the Pro Peleton for many years. The look which is part grin, part mischievous child and all business. He is about to start some shenanigans. Sure enough, just a few kilometers later and Manuel has picked one lucky contestant out of the pack and they are sitting-in, waiting, like predators, for the perfect moment. For Manuel, just like when he raced pro, this is when the road turns slightly up, a spot in the road where it gets tough for everyone. And he accelerates with his breakaway “partner” in tow. It is something to see. He ramps it up to a speed with which no one can latch onto the back and with such precision you have to question whether or not you actually want to try and close the gap he has created. And you can’t see it, but you just know, he is grinning from ear-to-ear.

Hannah currently resides in Bend, Oregon where she constantly (maybe obsessively) pursues her passion for snowsports. An avid splitboarder, alpine climber, and competitive freeride snowboarder in the recreational realm as well as a snowboard patroller and snowboard instructor in the professional realm, she is always finding ways to be on snow (as of July 2025, she’s at 45 consecutive months of snowboarding every month). Her close secondary passion is teaching and sharing the things she loves with others, and working to eliminate the educational and financial barriers that keep people from experiencing the outdoors. She has worked in wilderness therapy, outdoor education, and guiding since joining SWS in early 2022.
At home amongst glaciers, and wild places, you would never guess that Julie Ann grew up in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. In 2011, she found a deep passion for rock climbing and followed it to the mountains of North Carolina, Washington, and Alaska, where her curiosity to explore bigger mountains took hold of her dreams and imagination. In the decade that followed, Julie Ann immersed herself in the professional worlds of glacier & alpine rock guiding, ski instructing and patrolling, instructing avalanche courses, and eventually ski guiding. She has lived and played in Boone, Bozeman, Haines, and Ashford, and now calls Bellingham, Washington home. As a guide, she embodies an attitude of curiosity, wonder, and reverence in wild places. Julie Ann is dedicated to creating inclusive spaces within outdoor adventure, that not only evoke feelings of radical acceptance, but also allow for attention to be given to the deeper layers of one’s experience. I was born and raised in North Carolina, where I grew up immersed in the outdoors. I spent every spare minute hunting and fishing around home, in the mountains, and along the coast. Coming from a fly-fishing family, my brother and I started at a young age, spending family vacations chasing trout, tarpon, bass, albacore—whatever was in season. After attending Sweetwater Guide School in 2009, I spent my summers guiding in the Jackson, Wyoming area as well as in Alaska. The rivers surrounding Jackson quickly captured my attention. After graduating from The University of the South (Sewanee) in 2012, I made the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem my home and the foundation of my professional guiding career. In 2017, I attended the WorldCast Anglers Western Rivers Guide School and now serve as an instructor and head guide for WorldCast Anglers in Victor, Idaho. The knowledge shared by my peers and me is second to none, and we’re fortunate to call one of the top fly-fishing destinations in the United States home. I love everything about fishing—the places it takes me and my clients, the wildlife we encounter, and the geology and natural history carved by rivers over time. Sharing what I know and helping others learn about my passions isn’t just my job—it’s my calling.
After seeing one too many reflections in the icy Adirondack Mountains, Mark took a drive to McCall and never skied back. After several years of teaching lessons, tuning gear, and working in marketing at Brundage Mountain, he began a pursuit of guiding rock climbing with Idaho Mountain Guides in the warmer months. He continues to coach the McCall Winter Sports Club Backcountry Team, and guide for Payette Powder Guides when winter takes hold. If he’s not skiing or climbing, he’s practicing photography/videography with Payette Media Productions, playing music with friendly people, tinkering/building something, deep diving into a Youtube rabbit hole, or enjoying the company of family & friends. His favorite ski descents include the Middle Teton Glacier, Nick Peak, Monument Peak, Mt. Adams and Tuckerman’s Ravine. Certifications AIARE Rec 1, 2 & Rescue WFR AMGA SPI Leave No Trace Trainer

I grew up in Durango, CO and began venturing into the mountains of the North and South San Juans at an early age. In college, I studied Elementary Education and Communication at the University of Colorado in Boulder and worked for the Colorado Outward Bound School for 7 years – leading long expeditions (15-52 days) throughout the Southwest and Alaska. Colorado was where I began my guiding career working for several small guiding operations as well as the Colorado Mountain School before moving to Bellingham, WA in the spring of 2017 to work for Baker Mountain Guides. The North Cascades are home now and I'm not going anywhere. 7 months out of the year, you can find me on skis teaching avalanche courses, ski guiding, or dreaming of shredding pow in between rain events. The remaining months, I work as a guide and instructor for everything from alpine rock to glacier mountaineering in the Cascades. Outfitting and guiding fly fishermen and big game hunters has been a passion and profession of mine for the past thirty+ years. Organizing expeditions into remote global locales requires an ability to work well with people from different cultures and handle logistics for groups of various sizes often in challenging environments. Weather executing a first flyfishing expedition of a Himalayan river system, exploring virtually unknown central Pacific atolls, outfitting bowhunters in the rugged wilderness environments in the American Rocky Mountains or having expeditioned on all six flyfishable continents, adventure is at the heart of everything I do. Writing about and photographing these experiences for publications including the Wall Street Journal, Sports Afield, Eastman's Hunting Journal, Sun Valley Magazine, Ski Patrol Magazine, Trophy Hunter Magazine and many others is a pleasure as is filming my adventures for distribution. My professional experience as a television host for multiple tv shows and specials has been of great benefit in this regard. Although flyfishing and hunting are certainly personal passions, sharing these activities with others is far more rewarding and is the driving force behind the expeditions I lead in parallel with the challenges and risks associated with these endeavors.
First descents and traverses over some of the sickest terrain across North America are on his shred resume. He’s the guy that doesn’t have to tell you what he’s done, you will just feel it. On skis or a snowboard Aarons passion is moving through the mountains with good people. He knows how to find the goods and will instill a level on confidence while you’re at it.
Luke is a world class downhill mountain bike racer and professional skier. He won’t tell you that… actually you might not even get him to show off for you. It says a lot about Lukes personality that he would rather see his clients grow then the necessity for him to prove himself. You just need to know Luke is LEGIT. Growing up in Calgary and spending most of his time in Fernie BC he fell in love with the mountains. Now living in Revelstoke, Luke is following his passion with guiding and racing mountain bikes in the summer and guiding in the winter. Somehow he mixes media trips as an athlete in between a full time guiding schedule. You’ll find a calm cool and collected demeanor with Luke. He truly is stoked on coaching groups through pushing their comfort zone in terrain. Trust when it’s time to get rad, Luke will be ready to SEND
A born and raised Revelstoke boy, Andrew knows exactly what’s up out there. He has a command of ski touring equipment like very few do (the skin pull-off without taking his skis off move being one example). Andrew does things like camp on glaciers, night-ski in the moonlight and eat chips. After all, he’s just a regular dude.
A true ski bum at heart, Heather hung up her hardhat as a Journeywoman Millwright, to chase after the her dream of becoming a guide. Her early years included sending it with the ‘RMF’ Rocky Mountain Freeriders and 10 years as a ski patroller. Sharing her love for the mountains with others is what fulfills her most and you can see that in her smile.
Hoji likes to fix stuff. So if you want to get on his good side, bring along something that is broken, let him fix it, and hope that you won’t be ruthlessly made fun of for the rest of the trip.
Chief Instigator & Whitewater Program Director Melissa grew up in the Northeast but found her way to the rivers and mountains of California in 2004. While living on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, she discovered whitewater and began working as a raft guide. Fueled by a love for rivers, travel and adventure, Melissa worked her way around the world on the endless summer as a raft guide, safety kayaker, and photo boater, spending seasons in places like Norway, Chile, New Zealand, Nepal and Uganda. In 2015, Melissa created California Watersport Collective, with a focus on bringing more women into the sport of kayaking, and as a way to cultivate community, helping to make paddlesports accessible to everyone. Melissa currently runs her whitewater programs on her home river, the South Fork American, as well as in Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Montana and Chile. You’ll often find Melissa living it up at river festivals and races around the country. In addition to paddling, mountain biking, hiking and snowboarding, Melissa has a passion for good food, culture, music and dance. While she is focused on building her company, Melissa is still a free spirit and often feels more at home when she’s out on the road. * ACA L4 Whitewater

A lifelong angler, fishing guide and seasoned entrepreneur, Ashton is the co-founder of Steely Zips, which produces outdoor performance hoodies. Designed for people who love the outdoors, and especially fishing or skiing, the waterproof and wind-resistant grear can be worn as an outer layer or as a mid layer under a shell. After graduating from Hampden–Sydney College in Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in history, he moved to Ketchum, Idaho, to pursue his passion of fishing and photography. He worked as the assistant to legendary photographer David Stoecklein, who captured iconic images of the American West and worked with corporations such as Chevrolet and Jeep, Canon USA, and Bayer. After Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Ashton began working as a freelance photographer, and produced his first book of photographs, Fly Fishing in Idaho for Stoecklein Publishing in 2006. His second book, A Celebration of Salmon Rivers, was published a year later, in collaboration with the North Atlantic Salmon Fund (NASF). It featured Ashton’s photographs, taken over a period of two years, from the 50 greatest Atlantic salmon rivers in Canada, Europe, and Russia. The foreword was written by the thenPrince of Wales, now King Charles III, and all profits were donated to help save Atlantic Salmon. Steely Zips seeks to promote awareness about the need to protect wild stocks of sea-run fish, including Atlantic and Pacific salmon and steelhead trout, which the company says, “are in a battle for survival.” “From overfishing stocks to dams to warming oceans, sea-run fish are not returning to their home rivers to spawn the next generation. The entire ecosystem is suffering as a result. Passionate anglers and outdoorsman need to step up.”

I am a father of 2, husband to my soulmate, and I create adventure films. I do not consider myself a professional athlete, my job is to convey the unexplainable emotion of the euphoria that comes with embarking on a truly life changing adventure. Storytelling through video is what I do & I've been doing it for over 10 years. From 30s shorts, to 2 hour feature films, to the easily digestible middle ground of 20min lifestyle vlogs. I am the editor, the filmer, & and the story teller. This allows me to convey the emotion as I am the one who lived it, so I have to be the one to tell it. My workflow has been perfected over the years to create a progressive build up of the entire story. I supply different angles of the story spread over multiple channels to target the interest of specific demographics. My film capture technique is also... "DEDICATED" to say the least, as I carry a gopro in mouth while changing batteries every hour. My job is capture the story, story above all.
As a fly fishing and ski guide in Ketchum, I am so fortunate to be consistently immersed in the Idaho wilderness. Our mountains, our waters, the wildlife, teach me an appreciation for them with each new experience. That appreciation and those experiences are what I love most to share with my clients. Whether it's chasing trout in a beautiful high meadow without another angler in sight or slogging up a mountain to earn the turns few others have worked for, these experiences build that appreciation in all of us. However, mother nature is not always the most forgiving, but as guides, we are in the business of smiles. And the right gear goes along in keeping us not only safe, but best equipped to maximize our fun in the backcountry and ultimately keep growing our appreciation.
Ski Guide based in Hailey, ID and Palmer, AK.
Hello, I'm Maria Fernanda, also known as the sail queen of Jolly Good Times Sailing. Despite being born in Cali, Colombia, which is not very close to the ocean, life took me on an unexpected journey, and now I'm a proud sailor and co-founder of Jolly Good Times Sailing in Norway. I've had some incredible experiences living and traveling in various parts of the world, I have to tell you that. Before co-founding Jolly Good Times Sailing, I worked in the film industry, including on projects in some pretty amazing places, such as Cuba, France, England, Spain, Estonia, and even my hometown of Colombia. Despite the excitement and glamour of the film world, I found that I needed something more fulfilling. That's when I met my partner, Ulrik, and we decided to create Jolly Good Times Sailing. Our goal is to share our love for nature, the sea, and all its wonders with fellow adventurers. Over the years, the sea has provided me with countless unforgettable memories and challenges. From catching sight of sea turtles and dolphins frolicking to watching majestic whales breach, these are memories that will stay with me forever. When I'm not out at sea, you can find me in the galley, whipping up some delicious eats. I absolutely love to cook and I find great joy in seeing people enjoy my food. To me, there's nothing more satisfying than watching someone take that first bite and seeing the look of pure enjoyment on their face. I'm always looking to improve my culinary skills and discover new flavors, so come on over and be my guinea pig. If you're ready to embark on the journey of your lifetime, come aboard Jolly Good Times Sailing! I promise we'll have a boatload of fun and you won't go hungry on my watch!

SEABA's heli ski guides have flown and pioneered almost every mountain range in Alaska from Valdez to Knik to Cordova over the last twenty years. Each guide migrates to Haines each winter with purpose. They know Haines delivers the experience that people only dream of, and they are in the business of making dreams come true. We keep our operation small and inclusive, which enables us to maintain a close, personal relationship with each guest. We are always excited to welcome back familiar faces each season. While other operations might have 50+ guests skiing at once with multiple large groups per helicopter, at SEABA, we max out at 4 groups per helicopter and maintain a 4:1 client to guide ratio, ensuring a unique and personal ski experience where you’ll truly feel like a first descent pioneer.

Sun Valley and the East End of London, where Guy Robins is from, have little in common, but how Guy spent much of his childhood, out of the city, fostered in him a love of fishing that has been a constant thread throughout this life. Guy was educated at a boarding school in the Scottish highlands where he, from the age of nine, learned to fly fish for brown trout on the banks of the Spey River. He said, “After tying up some Greenwells Glories, I would sneak out of school and fish the Fiddich River from which the water is drawn to produce the famous Glen Fiddich whiskey.” As a small boy, Guy remembers packing up his fishing stuff with a jar of maggots and heading out to his favorite pond. “I would sit on the bank all day watching a float and catching warm water species like carp, perch, tench, and roach.” When friends invited him to ski in Sun Valley, the area immediately resonated with him. He fell in love with the mountains, river, and community, and has been here ever since. In his free time Guy’s favorite adventure buddies are his wife and two young children. Together they enjoy skiing, biking, rock climbing, and hiking.

After an impressive pro career that started back in 2003, Sérgio Paulinho joined the inGamba team at the start of 2022 after his retirement. But we’ve known him for a long time, as not only did he race against our founder João Correia, but he was also a teammate of our star guide Manuel Cardoso back in the day. A two-time national champion in Portugal, Sérgio has also won stages at the Tour de France and Vuelta a España, and in 2004, he won a silver medal in the road race at the Athens Olympics. So it’s fair to say the man has pedigree! It isn’t the racing victories that impress us most about Sérgio though, it’s his personality, his friendly nature on and off the bike, and the fact that he’s always ready with a smile. That said, if you find yourself running out of gas on a big climb, it certainly helps to have someone like him beside you!
You may hear the sweet, sweet notes wafting towards your window at Borgolecchi, as our resident aristocrat practices his new found love of the clarinet. We’re never quite sure if all of his stories are based on reality, but they are without a doubt highly entertaining. Probably the greatest tale Giorgio is prone to tell you is that he’s not really a cyclist. This yarn is not to be believed. Giorgio is a supportive presence, encouraging you during challenging climbs and even joining you in races if you’re up for it. His philosophy revolves around embracing life to the fullest and seizing every moment. In Giorgio’s words, “I’m sure other good companies around offer great trips. But we’re specifically trying to give our guests the closest experience of what it means to be in a pro team, at any speed.”

Reggie Crist has a professional reputation for being in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. Whether exploring deep into the Idaho backcountry, standing on top of a first descent in Alaska, or migrating to the Southern Hemisphere to chase snow in Chile or Argentina, Reggie is often first on scene and first in the heli when the sky cracks blue. His conditional awareness is no fluke, as his knowledge has been gleaned from over two decades of skiing big, bold, and aesthetic lines in the most dramatic mountain venues. Nicknamed “Robert REG-ford,” for his photographic and directing skills, this jack-of-all-ski-trades was raised on the slopes of Sun Valley, Idaho, a place where he learned to charge groomers at redline speed. Crist ski-raced in the Olympics and spent a decade on the U.S. Ski Team before pioneering the sport of ski cross, a discipline that earned him a string of five consecutive X Games medals, including two gold. Yet the trademark of this skier is his sense of leading skiers to the goods when it is on, allowing him to become one of the industry's most experienced heli-ski guides. Reggie's life and career have been shaped by the mountains and few people have enjoyed more powder days, which is why his focus has naturally shifted towards showing others their best days ever. Reggie started Stellar, an adventure travel and media outfitter focused on lining up unique adventures for clients while also servicing the production needs of pro skiers in such locations as Alaska, South America, Japan, and in his backyard of Idaho. In the off-season, when Crist isn’t chasing after his three young kids, he has been known to put pen to paper for publications such as Men’s Journal , Powder Magazine , Skiing Magazine , and The Ski Journal , as well as generate web-series content for National Geographic . For rest and recovery, he flies his whole family south to the lefthand point break at Saladita, Mexico, to surf, sip margaritas, and watch the sun dip beyond the horizon. In the winter months, he is a local ski celebrity in Sun Valley and is not “officially” allowed behind the bar during après at Apple’s. ACHIEVEMENTS OLYMPIAN (1992) AND US SKI TEAM MEMBER FOR 10 YEARS TWO-TIME X GAMES CHAMPION (2001, 2005) PIONEER OF ALASKAN HELI SKIING INDUSTRY SKI-FILM STAR FOR WARREN MILLER AND TETON GRAVITY RESEARCH
Jeska Clark received her MA in Human Systems Engineering from the Ira Fulton School at Arizona State University in 2023. Her passion for the outdoors, education, and climbing has provided her with opportunities to travel and climb around the world. She has participated in a number of expeditions, both as a researcher and as a member of the team. These have included marine conservation work in the waters off of Malaysia, as well as high-altitude training in the Himalayas. In each of these environments, she has gained valuable experience in how to conduct research in extreme conditions and how to support the teams working in them.

Asked when he started on the water Jon says, “My parents used to tie my crib off to the handrails on the inside of their boat so that I was suspended. That way I wouldn’t roll out when the boat heeled over.” Jon grew up in Darien, CT and has spent his whole life on the water. He has raced dinghies and big boats across the country, was captain of his high school and college sailing teams, and has coached juniors and adults in dinghies, big boats, and kiteboarding at premier locations from Puerto Rico to Boston. Jon is a Certified Public Accountant who, after working in professional services in Boston for four years, decided to marry his passion for the water with his career. Next Level Watersports is a dream come true for Jon, and he’s excited to teach you the same sports that make him smile every day!
Born and raised on the shores of Long Island Sound, John grew up fishing for Striped Bass and Bluefish. Staring in 2007, he worked in at his local fishing shop where he taught fly-casting instruction, tied flies, and began shore guiding in Saltwater. John attended the University of Vermont where he was the President of the UVM Fly Fishing Club and cultivated a passion for freshwater fishing. John came to Alaska for the first time in 2013 on an August Goodnews River trip and instantly fell in love with the fishery. John earned his USCG Captains License in 2012 and began guiding during the summers in the Norwalk Islands on his 25’ Center Console. In 2013, John became an Ambassador for the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester, VT. From 2013- 2016 John worked to build Fly Reel a manufacturing company as a product specialist and sales representative. John has been a contributing author for Anglers Journal since 2014 and his published works cover a wide range of fishing adventures. John began guiding Fly Fishing float trips for Alaska’s Wild River Guides in 2014 where he now serves as the Owner. In 2017 & 2018, John guided for the Bighorn Angler in SE Montana. His love for the Bristol bay waters brought him to become a Guide ambassador for Save Bristol Bay as a part of the opposition to the proposed “Pebble Mine.” In the offseason, John calls south Florida home and works as a yacht captain. John has worn many different hats in the fishing industry but he finds his sense of home chasing fish with a fly rod in the saltwater or exploring the Alaskan Bush.

Kyle’s humble beginnings started on a 400ft tall molehill in Timmins, Ontario. He loved skiing so much that he’d haul buckets of snow in his station wagon from the local hockey arena back to his parent’s backyard. It’s on that rail with thanks to his DIY snowgun that his passion for this industry grew. In 2010 he headed out West where the real goods were. An opportunity to explore the backcountry presented itself and Kyle hasn’t looked back since.
Seb is our French Canadian import de Quebec. It was 15 years ago that he was bit by the Revy bug [IYKYK] and has living it up with his wife in the best place on earth ever since. Throughout those years he punched the clock as a snowcat operator at RMR, tail guide at K3 Cat Ski, and worked rope access slope stabilization jobs in the summer. Ultimately, the split life was the one for Seb.

Danny was born and raised in Texas, but that did not keep him from getting on skis at the age of 9 in New Mexico and Colorado, where he would try to spend as much time as possible exploring the mountains until graduating college from Texas A&M University. After school, he spent 10 years throughout the west ski instructing and developing a passion for ski mountaineering. This lifestyle was a natural progression into guiding. Danny first began guiding in 2011 in Washington on mountains such as Rainier, Mt. Baker and many others throughout the North Cascades. His winters would be spent ski guiding in the Wallowa Mountains of Northeast Oregon, or the San Juan Mountains in Southwest Colorado. Much of the last 8 years has also been spent guiding expeditions on Denali and Aconcagua. When not guiding, Danny has spent his time skiing and climbing throughout the West, Alaska, British Columbia and Europe. Some of his favorite trips have been ski expeditions into the Wrangell Mountains and Alaska Ranges in AK, multiple trips to Chamonix, and fall climbing trips in Southern Utah. Now that Danny and his family call California home, he is looking forward to the balance between climbing and skiing that is offered in the Sierra Nevada and throughout California. Danny is an AMGA Certified Ski Guide and has completed the AMGA Rock and Alpine Guide Courses. Additionally, he is a Wilderness First Responder, AIARE Course Leader, Leave No Trace Trainer and a PSIA Level 2 Ski Instructor. Danny intends to continue to pursue AMGA Certification in the Rock and Alpine disciplines.

AMGA Certified Rock Guide, Certified Alpine Guide, Assistant SPI Provider Michael started climbing in 2006 in Maryland at Towson University but didn’t find a real passion for climbing until he traveled abroad to New Zealand in 2007 for a semester of college. He met so many amazing people from all over the world that had come to New Zealand just for the climbing. This incredible community, the “climbing community”, that he became part of, fueled his fire for the sport. Once back in the states, he finished a degree in Sport Management and embarked on a mission to learn more about climbing. Michael scored a job at an East Coast climbing gym called Earth Treks’ Climbing Center in Timonium, Maryland. Working with great people and making lifelong friends in the indoor gym naturally led him to further expand onto the real stone. He took that time to embark upon a career working in the climbing industry, learning about every aspect possible. Naturally this led him to an interest in guiding. He started guiding/instructing for Earth Treks in 2010 teaching rock climbing in summer camps, introductory level outdoor climbing courses, and weekend ice climbing in the Adirondacks. Since then, Michael moved to California to pursue his passion for climbing and his professional guiding development through the AMGA. From 2013 to 2020, Michael worked at the Santa Barbara Rock Gym filling many roles such as the head route setter, head coach of the youth climbing team and lead guide. During that time Michael completed the Rock Guide certification with the AMGA in 2016 which launched his guiding career here at Sierra Mountain Guides. Currently Michael is an AMGA certified Rock Guide, certified Alpine Guide, and an Assistant SPI Provider. Michael now lives full-time in Bishop, CA guiding year round in the Rock, Ice, and Alpine disciplines. On days off he has been climbing all over California, and North America honing skills as a climber, guide, snowboarder, coffee addict and lifelong learner. I don’t remember not being a skier. Growing up in Switzerland, I skied with my brother on a hill behind the farmhouse. I started backcountry skiing in elementary school. Today, as an AMGA certified ski guide and AIARE avalanche course instructor, I am still passionate about skiing deep powder. I have skied extensively in the Alps and in North America. According to my husband, my other expensive habit is climbing. My dad used to drag me up 4thclass peaks as a kid. This eventually led to a semester with NOLS and my ongoing fascination with the American West. I have climbed all over the Alps and I am still ticking off routes in the Sierra Nevada. I am an AMGA certified Single Pitch Instructor and an apprentice Rock Guide. Being out in the mountains, especially on stormy days, is how I rejuvenate and gain strength for my other job as a mother of three daughters. My family and I live in Lee Vining, CA. Beginning with leading extended backcountry mountaineering and backpacking trips for the Outward Bound School all over the range, he finally settled down in Mammoth Lakes to enjoy the unbelievable skiing and climbing the Eastside is famous for. Ryan’s passion for climbing has taken him around the world, from Yosemite Valley where he has climbed more than 25 big walls including a 9 day ascent of Tribal Rite (5.10 A4), to Patagonia where he has made many major ascents including Fitz Roy and first ascents of remote alpine walls. Geoff has been climbing and skiing for most of his life. His travels have taken him all over the globe for alpinism and guiding. Two of Geoff’s notable achievements are climbing first ascents in the Himalaya and repeating a demanding route on the north face of the Grand Jorasses outside Chamonix in winter. When not in the alpine he enjoys climbing in all its forms from bouldering to multi-pitch traditional climbing and ice climbing. Geoff began guiding in 2001 and soon discovered it was the only thing he wanted to do as a profession. Coaching and teaching are aspects of the job he really enjoys, along with taking his guests to some incredible places. Geoff’s desire to give his clients the best possible experience led him to pursue training and certification through the American Mountain Guides Association. He completed the demanding guide training in just 3 years earning IFMGA qualification in 2008. In addition to being a guide Geoff is an instructor for the American Mountain Guides Association guide training programs and an AIARE Level 1 and Level 2 Avalanche course lead instructor. When not guiding he enjoys cooking and mountain biking. You may even see him take flight under the wing of his paraglider when conditions are right.
For every rule there is an exception, and Peter Croft is an exceptional individual who has successfully combined decades of climbing and guiding experience with a prolific personal career as climbing athlete. Peter was born in Canada but moved to California to pursue a life in the sun. He currently lives in Bishop with his wife Karine. In 1987 Croft blazed his way into the scene by free soloing Astroman and the Rostrum in a day – two Yosemite climbs that remain test pieces to this day (for roped climbers!) and he has become one of the great climbing athletes of our time. He received the American Alpine Club’s Robert & Miriam Underhill Award in 1991. Since then, he has remained in the spotlight by soloing enormous ridgeline traverses, such as the Evolution Traverse, the Minaret Traverse, and the enchainment of four Celestial Arêtes on Temple Crag in a day. He continues to establish 5.13 climbs in the Eastern Sierra, as well as hard high country traditional rock climbs. Along with many articles and essays, he has written a couple climbing guidebooks and recently a “how to” book co-authored with John Long. Peter has an unmatched enthusiasm for the activity and lifestyle of rock climbing and he loves to share it with everyone out to achieve their own climbing goals. His passion for people and the climbing environment is infectious which make him a naturally talented rock guide and instructor. Sierra Mountain Guides is proud to present the world with an opportunity to rock climb with a true master of stone, in an overall quality of experience that fully lives up to SMG’s highest guiding standards.

Katie has been kiting for 15+ years and taught in Long Beach, CA., and Punta Chame, Panama before deciding she belonged in the Gorge. She started teaching at Cascade in 2014 and also took on the role of scheduling/admin. In early 2021 Katie took ownership of Cascade, and she is stoked to carry on the legacy that Tonia created! Though she doesn’t teach much anymore, you might see her filling in for beginner lessons on occasion when she’s not running things at the school. If she’s not at Cascade or out kiting, you can find Katie somewhere in the mountains, baking delicious treats in the kitchen, planning for Halloween, or hanging with Ty and their pups Finn and Bear.
I grew up in the wide open farm country of southern Colorado, where grit and endless horizons shaped my love for free spaces and spicy food. Skiing grabbed me early—at five years old I was making my first turns at Wolf Creek, and by the time I was old enough to hold a blaster’s license, I was on ski patrol. In 2016, I took my first international guiding job in Chile, with just enough in the bank for a one way ticket south. Since then, the mountains have carried me across the globe, a gift I’ll never take for granted. When I’m not chasing snow, you’ll find me at home—baking bread, wandering the woods with my pup, or trying to keep up with my wild wildebeest nephews.

Learning how to sail changed our lives forever. We want to give the same chance to the kids from Eleuthera. Sailing is fun. Sailing gives you freedom. Through sailing, you can connect with nature. Sailing clears your mind and keeps you fit. It teaches you how to make decisions and choose where you want to go. You can make friends for life, learning to work together as a team, with and not against the elements. Sailing teaches you to be a captain of your own life! But our vision doesn’t stop there. We believe that sailing is for everybody. Imagine, you live on an island, surrounded by crystal clear water, windy almost every day of the year and it so warm that you only need sunscreen… you could SAIL EVERY DAY! The Bahamas is a world-class destination for sailors, but unfortunately, only a small part of the population enjoys it. Many children don’t even know how to swim while they live in a sailing paradise and surrounded by water! At the Eleuthera Sailing Academy, everybody can learn how to sail.

These waters have drawn generations of anglers looking to experience the same beauty and serenity as the likes of Earnest Hemingway, who was known to wade and fish these waters with fond enthusiasm. At Sun Valley Outfitters, through our fly shop and guided fly-fishing trips , we pride ourselves on being able to assist avid anglers who are in the valley to experience the challenge and variety of local waterways, or the casual vacationer here for skiing, biking or looking to see the local beauty and enjoy the small-town vibes. In our fly shop in the heart of downtown Ketchum, avid anglers will find essential local flies, gear and can get information on local hatches, water flows, etc. from our staff of anglers. We believe in a “have no secrets” policy and are happy to share tips, tricks, the best fishing waters. For Sun Valley and Ketchum visitors who had never considered guided fly-fishing as an activity for their family or vacation, our fly shop and experienced team of guides have the gear and the skills to teach the most novice of anglers the basics and give them ample opportunity to employ those newfound skills in the pursuit of a variety of trout. At Sun Valley Outfitters we are passionate about fly-fishing and we love to share our sport with Ketchum locals and visitors, so stop by the shop and swap fish tales, get hooked up with the day’s hottest fly, or book a guided fly-fishing day with one of our local guides to learn the ropes and cast a line.

Nearly 40 years ago, a local cowboy who was raised hunting and fishing Sun Valley's world-class wilderness had a great idea. "What if I make a life out of sharing my outdoor passions with Sun Valley's visitors? Fishing, hunting, hiking and horseback rides for everyone! Campfires under the stars, sunrises on mountain tops and tight lines at the end of their flyrods... Yeehaw!" So in 1985, with a little organizing and a lot of hard work, Milt Butler founded what has grown to become today's Idaho Wilderness Outfitters. All these years later, Bryant Dunn continues the tradition as he has done for the past 20 years. A culmination of four outfitting businesses, Idaho Wilderness Outfitters is Idaho's largest land-based outfit. The IWO Team has grown from one aspiring outfitter to a staff of 20 of the hardest working fishing, hunting, hiking, horseback and Kids Camps guides and the most guest-service oriented team in the Rocky Mountains. We at Idaho Wilderness Outfitters think "Uncle Milt" would be proud!

Erin Laine grew up in the wide open farm country of southern Colorado, where grit and endless horizons shaped her love for free spaces and spicy food. Skiing grabbed her early—at five years old she was making her first turns at Wolf Creek, and by the time she was old enough to hold a blaster’s license, she was on ski patrol. In 2016, Erin took her first international guiding job in Chile, with just enough in the bank for a one way ticket south. Since then, the mountains have carried her across the globe, a gift she'll never take for granted. When not chasing snow, you’ll find her at home—baking bread, wandering the woods with her pup, or trying to keep up with her wild wildebeest nephews.

Flowstate Backcountry is a SOF founded guiding and avalanche safety provider in Lander, WY. We believe the old guiding business model is outdated and ineffective. Today’s adventurers don’t always want to be dragged to the top. They seek independence, authenticity, and freedom. Flowstate Backcountry exists because we believe the deepest learning and most valuable experiences happen in the flow state; the intersection of skill and challenge. We provide the mentorship, information, and framework for you to find that intersection quickly and safely. In the “wicked” learning environment, mistakes and confirmation bias can become catastrophic. However, under careful mentorship, we can hack the “wicked environment” and rapidly grow your skills and confidence. Flowstate Backcountry is built around mentorship and education rather than ego. We’re here to help you find your true potential. You will feel respected, seen and valued, while you step out in ways that will surprise yourself and your peers. Our ultimate goal is helping folks tap into what psychologists call the flow state—that sweet spot where your skills are challenged, but not overwhelmed; attention sharpens naturally, and learning accelerates without force. Your guide will be right next to you, keeping you focused on what’s important, acting as your sounding board, and providing a crucial safety margin for you to operate in. Research shows that people retain more, perform better, and feel more connected to their experience when they find flow. That’s what we’re offering, honestly: mountain days designed explicitly to help you find Flowstate. Our style isn’t about loud talk or chasing bragging rights. We keep things approachable, and collaborative. You will always know why we’re making decisions, what your role is, and how to level up your own mountain thinking. Mentorship is the backbone of what we do, whether it’s a short tour, an avalanche course, or a bigger objective. The aim is to give you tools, judgment, and confidence you can carry into your own days—not just a guided hit of adrenaline. At the center of Flowstate Backcountry is a simple idea echoed in Zen thought: when effort and awareness move together, everything becomes attainable. Alan Watts once said, “When you’re truly awake, you don’t get the sense of doing things; you get the sense of letting things happen.” That’s the vibe we’re after. Not passive — Present. When people tap into that space on a ski tour, a route, or in a classroom session, the day opens up. That’s where real learning and life altering experiences happen, and that’s why Flowstate Backcountry exists
Todd Passey is a Utah born and raised local but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t traveled the world experiencing a wide variety of mountain ranges from deep powdery Alaskan descents to summiting the top of the world . Todd is an IFMGA Mountain Guide that can guide you with a local’s knowledge, international experience, and extensive educational and practical skills. Raised skiing and spending time in the mountains, Todd passionately pursued mountaineering adventures as a young adult and many of those journeys were with his wife, Winslow Passey . After a few years of mountaineering experience with Winslow, the two met Ramsay Thomas while exploring the Alps, one of the first Americans to receive IFMGA Mountain Guide certification. Ramsay took Todd under his wing with a very practical mentorship, asking Todd and Winslow to join him in guide training including: holding daily guide meetings, route planning, daily debriefings, etc. The experience helped motivate Todd to seek the same professional path as Ramsey and in 2009 he became the 62nd American to achieve the full IFMGA Mountain Guide certification . Todd’s approach to guiding is to create personalized and customized experiences for his clients. He loves the research, planning, and organization that goes into creating this experience for those he guides. From this he has established lifetime long relationships and friendships with many of his clients. Notable Ascents Todd has guided all over Utah, on Denali, Cho Oyu, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Vinson in Antarctica, New Zealand, Ecuador, The Alps, plus MUCH more. Capt. Cam Gammill has been fishing the Nantucket waters all of his life. Growing up, his first love was beach fishing and he even spent two seasons as a beach guide before ever getting on a boat. (shh... beach fishing is still Cam's primary passion.) Cam is still an active guide and those lucky enough to get him on the water know that he is not only fishy, but a very creative fishermen. he likes to try something new every-time he is out on the water. When Cam is not fishing he is managing his Real Estate Shop. He owns Fisher Real Estate on Main Street and is no doubt one of Nantucket’s leading real estate brokers. Cam is supported and loved by his wonderful wife Julie and their three amazing girls: Neely, Morgan, and Blake. Since then though, Cam has been working on boats for more than 12 years, 5 as a mate and 7 as a captain. Cameron's time on the water leads to another great asset of Cam's, his ability to connect with those around him. People are infatuated with his passion and energy and are captivated by everything he says. Lucky if these people are fishermen as Cam is very quick to share where he was fishing that morning.
Capt. Corey Gammill not only owns Bill Fisher Tackle, but also owns the guiding business Bill Fisher Outfitters. Corey has been guiding on Nantucket since 1998. BFO primarily runs regulators and targets Striped Bass/Blues/Bones and Falsies in the nearshore waters around Nantucket. He works with an incredible team of guys and they are proud to operate the premier light tackle fishing operation on Nantucket. Corey lives on Nantucket year round with his Wife and Child. When not fishing, Corey is typically Coaching Lacrosse or Hockey or sneaking north to Vermont to ski as often as possible. Corey's fishing background is like so many who have walked through the doors of Bill Fisher Tackle. His first bluefish was caught from Great Point with a stiff wind in his face and rain beating down on him. He was six years old. It was a typical "bluefish blitz", for which Great Point has become famous. To make that day even sweeter, Corey's twin brother Cameron caught his first saltwater fish within minutes of his younger brother. Ever since that day, it would be an understatement to say that the love of fishing runs in Corey's blood.
Ben has been climbing, skiing, and exploring the mountains for over 18 years and professionally guiding for over 10 years. He is enthusiastic about big multi pitch ice climbs, huge days moving in the mountains, and exposed ridges on high peaks. What started out as a way to skip classes turned into an obsession. Every chance he gets, Ben is out exploring the backcountry of Colorado. Ben also volunteers with the Colorado Mountain Club and typically teaches a few classes for them every year. He is currently working towards achieving his IFMGA certification and hopes to share his experience and expertise with his clients. “I love to teach climbing because there is no better feeling than watching and helping someone overcome an obstacle to succeed. The mountains are the best and I feel very privileged to be able to work in them!” When Ben isn’t climbing, he can be found backcountry skiing, drinking way too much coffee, or spending time with his wife and two sons exploring the mountains.

A native of the Chicago-area flatlands, Britni originally grew up frolicking in cornfields and dreaming of becoming the next Mia Hamm. After her childhood soccer glory days came to pass, it was on to Big Ten athletics where she walked-on to the Michigan State University Varsity Women’s Rowing team. Four years later and ever eager for the next adventure, Britni packed her bags and headed to Colorado. She was instantly smitten by the mountain-town lifestyle, and quickly acquired a number of new passions (including learning to ski at the age of 23). As is the case with most Yampa Valley transplants, her love for the mountains runs about as deep as her love for adventure. Since moving west more than a decade ago, she’s worn a number of hats (both past and present) which seems like a fitting compliment to the diverse, vibrant, non-linear, and exceedingly active lifestyle that has come to define much of her being: D1 athlete, foreign affairs intern, trail crew leader, AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, ski school instructor, skier, climber, mountain biker, trail-runner, yogi, nanny, waitress, farmer, master gardener, bartender, search and rescue member, avalanche education instructor, and most recently, a certified holistic nutritionist, entrepreneur, and soon-to-be certified personal trainer. Her path thus far has undoubtedly been characterized by equal parts passion, perseverance, and a healthy dose of serendipity. Where the next decade may lead remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain: she finds her deepest sense of joy, gratitude, connection, and contentment amid the ever-humbling high mountain peaks, living out (and sharing) as many of her days as possible in and among them (on snow, or otherwise), with other adventure-inspired souls! “Find a way of life you love, and have the courage to live it.”
Luc Strickland grew up in Alpharetta , Georgia and was hooked on skiing out West during his first trip to Colorado when he was 13. He followed this passion by going to school at the University of Wyoming and found Steamboat Springs while skiing with buddies. The Yampa Valley became a scapegoat from the high windy plains of Laramie and he decided to call Steamboat Springs home in 2007. He has been a river guide in Colorado and in the Southeast since 2005 making the Yampa, Colorado and Chattooga Rivers his playground. After some summers in the Pacific Northwest, Luc has moved full time back to Colorado where he is a Colorado River Ranger in the off season. His first season with Steamboat Powdercats was the 2009 season and he is looking forward to a long and infamous career by guiding and skiing the fresh powder fields on Buffalo Pass.
25 years ago, my family purchased a beachfront lot here in Montezuma and started building the villa that would become home and eventually surf camp. Throughout my childhood, my family traveled between Seattle, WA where we embraced life in a mountain town- skiing, hiking, mountain biking and enjoying the beauty of the pacific northwest, and our home here in Costa Rica. Over the years, we expanded the property to include three guest houses which worked into the perfect layout for a surf camp with the most amazing point breaks as well as a beach break to choose from. As professional mountain bikers, my husband Ryan and I traveled the world exploring new mountain towns and we loved every minute of it. But when a knee injury landed me in Costa Rica for an extended rehab, an idea began to form. Surfing has always been a part of life here, but as I tried to teach myself the sport, I realized that there was a lack of strong, technical instruction. Most people were just battling their way out into the water, or going with a friend who might give them a few tips. The sports I loved up north, mountain biking and skiing, had a much different approach to instruction and I believed the same philosophy could be applied to surfing. Ryan and I founded Peaks ‘n Swells in 2010 with that mission always at the forefront. We can’t wait to get our daughter, Coco, out into the waves! And, my mom is still here with us every day, helping to run the camps and taking photographs of guests. As a professional photographer, she travels to all the breaks with us, handing out fresh pipas and capturing incredible images both on and off the water. We are a true family-run operation, and love meeting all the people who come to stay with us. Hope to see you soon!
Carlien used to be a crazy traveler with a passion for watersports. She is an anthropologist, who used to live on a sailing boat, with a deep fascination for different cultures and natural wonders.
Martin was a sailing WORLD champion at the age of 12, has a deep love for the sport and is passionate about the life-changing opportunities sailing provides! He is also an engineer, but he has 20 years of coaching experience with great success in the Optimist and Laser Class and before coming to the Bahamas he was involved in an Olympic Campaign on NACRA 17 CLASS.
I feel lucky to have been able to create a life out of pursuing the things that I love to do for over 20 years now. I grew up playing in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon, and eventually made it up to Alaska where I found my first guiding job and eventually realized that I might be able to make a living out of it. I’ve now been to places that I never dreamed I would ever get a chance to go, climbed all the Seven Summits twice, and stood on top of Mount Everest three times. I take great pleasure in sharing those experiences with climbers from around the world. Although I spend most of my time in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado now, Alaska is still in my blood and I’ve guided nearly 30 expeditions on Denali, and expeditions to Mount Foraker, Mount Huntington, Mount Fairweather, and many other peaks in Alaska. I manage to get out of the Mountain Trip office just enough that I am able to work as a ski guide in the winter for both Telluride Helitrax and as part of our own backcountry ski touring program here in the San Juans. I spend my winters in Ophir, CO with my very understanding wife, Sonja, and our boy, Parker. We still spend part of each summer in Alaska running the day-to-day operations of our Denali season.
Nate is the Owner/Director of San Juan Mountain Guides. He began guiding in the St. Elias Mountains and has also guided on Mt. Rainier and Denali. He has a BA in Psychology and a BA in Organizational Communications, is a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and is AIARE Level 3 Avalanche Certified. Nate is an IFMGA Mountain Guide and AMGA Certified Rock, Ski & Alpine Guide, the highest level of certification available for guides working in that terrain.

Jerome started rock climbing outside of Livingston, Montana when he was 14. Since then, it has been a driving passion for him and a medium for adventure. Jerome has climbed all over the inter-mountain west and spent significant time climbing in California, including almost a dozen ascents of Yosemite’s El Capitan. Additionally, Jerome has climbed on four continents. Jerome knows the Tetons intimately having spent summers there climbing the classics and winters searching for the deep and steep lines. Jerome has had notable ski descents in the Tetons such as the Ford-Stettner Couloir on the Grand Teton and Apocalypse Couloir in Death Canyon. Matt comes to The Mountain Guides with a passion for all types of climbing; rock, ice, alpine, and skiing. He has climbed extensively in the Western United States, particularly the Wind River Range, Utah Desert, and Pacific Northwest. He began guiding in 2008 with the National Outdoor Leadership School, working over 120 weeks as a climbing, ski, and mountaineering instructor. This has lead him to the Kumaon Himalaya in India, a quest to climb 100 desert towers, a ski traverse of the Wind River Range, first ascents in Colorado and Wyoming, and lots of sunny sport climbing. Matt has guided Denali (highest peak in N. America) several times and has taught over 100 AIARE Level 1 and 2 Avalanche Courses. IFMGA 2021, AMGA Instructor Team Member 2023. Willie Benegas was born in Patagonia and raised to climb mountains. His roots are in exploring Patagonia with his father and brother, Damian Benegas . He brought his experience and ambitions to the United States at age 21, went to Yosemite and logged over 80 ascents of El Capitan. Equally impressive are his annual returns to South America, where he has logged over 50 ascents of Aconcagua. A certified IFMGA mountain guide, you can rely on Willie’s extensive experience and skills. Willie is no stranger to first ascents and speed records. In 1995 he and his team gained a first ascent on the North Face of Pakistan’s technical and dangerous, Trango Nameless Tower. His accomplishments are vast and prestigious, as you can see listed below. Don’t let these accomplishments intimidate you. Willie’s philosophy highlights that he is in the mountains to experience life. When asked why he climbs, Willie responded, “A mountain adventure will carry over into the many facets of life, teaching you about yourself, your coexistence with nature, and respect for other people’s cultures.” For Willie, being in the mountains is simply being at home and living a full life. Willie spends his winters in Utah guiding, and more importantly, taking his dog and kids skiing. His skills can take you to unforgettable powder days, high alpine ascents, or skill pushing climbs. Book a trip with Willie and learn from a world class mountaineer. Not only does he love to introduce people to the world of experiences in the mountains, he is to be completely trusted in difficult times. Taken from his Wikipedia page and during the tragic 2015 Mount Everest avalanches: In an interview with one Everest climber, he recounted how Benegas went into the triage tent to save the life a man others had given up on. That is to say they expected him to die due to various injuries and had fluid coming out of his mouth; however, Benegas managed to make an airway and rallied a group of Sherpa’s to carry him down. Within the hour they had gotten him down and helicopter evacuated out the next day. Source This wasn’t Willie’s first rescue. Raised on fishing stories from crew and clients alike, Jason couldn't wait to get to work on his father's boats. He spent 5 years working as a striker before becoming a captain in 2001. He easily explains why people see a lot of Tom in his fishing style and overall demeanor - "He taught me everything I know." This may be true, but Tom is quick to point out that they now learn from each other. Beyond his father, Jason credits the people he fishes with for much of his knowledge. His ability to learn from each person he interacts with has given him a distinct fishing style with impressive results. Growing up on Nantucket waters and his father's passion for the oceanhas given Jason a great appreciation for everything the area has to offerand an uncanny understanding of the fish that swim here. This qualitywas enhanced after studying Marine Geology and Biology at HamiltonCollege. Jason has since fused science with his growing first-hand experiences to get closer to thinking like a fish each day. Equally important is Jason's ability to positively interact with many different anglers in a wide range of situations. Like all of Captain Tom's crew, he brings the best out of people and shows them the best of Nantucket. When fishing with Tom or Jason, you can sense not only a passion for fishing and people, but also for education. This led to 26 years of teaching and coaching for Tom, and led Jason down a similar path in 2005 when he began teaching middle school science and math while coaching ice hockey and lacrosse - both of which he played at Hamilton College where he earned All-American recognition as a lacrosse goalie. This devotion to people is an asset shared by anyone found on Capt Tom's team, and Jason credits much of his father's success to his unwavering commitment to the enjoyment of his anglers, which goes far beyond simply catching fish. Growing up, he remembers the first lesson his father ever taught him about the business. Whenever little Jason would ask, "How was your trip?" or "What'd you catch?" his father would always reply, "We had a great time." While this didn't appease the curiosity of a 10 year old, Jason soon realized that this was the heart of Capt Tom's Charters - it's a people business. Jason has never forgotten that. Besides, the fishing here takes care of itself!

I have over 25 years of experience fly fishing in both fresh and salt waters all over the world. I am a U.S.C.G. certified Captain and a New York State licensed D.E.C. fly fishing Guide. My passion is sharing fly fishing adventures on the Lake Erie and Lake Ontario tributaries located minutes from my home. I reside in Webster, New York on Lake Ontario where I fish all year round. As an appointed representative to the New York State D.E.C. Fishery Management Focus Group in 2018 and 2019, I promote a “protect and preserve” policy with all fisheries and successfully promote public awareness of conservation in the sport fishing community. I also teach “catch and release” and “fair tactic” fishing techniques. I am dedicated to protecting our marine resources. My passion for promoting this world class fishery through conservation lead me to initiate, manage and deliver two “catch and release” fishing sections on the Lake Ontario tributaries of Four Mile Creek and Mill Creek in Webster, N.Y. Working closely with the Town Of Webster, the N.Y.S. Department of Environmental Conservation and other community organizations, these projects have been successfully completed. As a result, wild Brown Trout, Steelhead and Salmon continue to naturally reproduce and imprint on Four Mile Creek and Mill Creek.
Growing up in France, I fell in love with Canada more than 10 years ago now. Having lived in the city many years, I decided in my thirties to change my life in order to spend the majority of my days in nature. Thus I studied and trained to become an adventure guide. I’ve always been attracted by the mountains or the great wilderness and I’ve been lucky enough to hike or bike through different beautiful parts of this world such as the Alps in France, the Drakensberg in South Africa, the Southern Alps in New-Zealand, the desert in Namibia, the Mounts Uapishka in Northern Coast of Quebec… Cheerful character, curious about everything, especially old human ways of life preceding industrial revolution, I can appreciate every single day spent outdoors and I look forward to sharing with you my enthusiasm about Yukon wilderness!

As a native of the Millinocket area I grew up fishing and hunting around the Penobscot watershed in the shadow of Mt. Katahdin. My earliest fishing memories include combat wading by myself on the East Branch with a Zebco rod and reel and a Daredevil trying to hang on to a 5lb smallmouth bass. I was also very fortunate to have a very remote family hunting camp on the east border of Baxter State Park. I have some great memories of my grandfather and I catching brook trout hand over fist and being on the verge of tears when we had to go home. My father and I would have many special moments as well catching Salmon and Perch below North Twin Dam or Smallmouth and Pickerel at Dolby Flowage. After finishing high school and spending a few years figuring what I didn’t want to do in life at college, I became a rafting guide and settled in with my true passion of being in the outdoors. Of course, making a living at it and connecting the dots from season to season is the hard part. I spent the next 10 years on the West Branch of the Penobscot during the summer, and working at Sugarloaf, skiing in the winters. It’s my time on the West Branch though that solidified a passion for fly fishing in me that I can’t get enough of even today. Every evening after paddling 14 miles pushing rubber as a raft guide, I’d grab my fly rod and race back up to my favorite spot, tie on my favorite caddis imitation and take a few casts during prime time in hopes of catching the big one. In 2001 I became the Outdoor Operations manager for a major outfitter, which landed me in The Forks area and the Kennebec water shed. At this point my guiding toolbox had become year round, with rafting, fishing and ATVs in the summer, hunting for moose and deer in the fall, and guiding snowmobilers in the winter. That same year in 2001 I met my better half, Liz, on a winter backcountry trip to Katahdin and a year later we were married, setting our roots in Caratunk. A year after we had our first child Jeremy and shortly after, our youngest boy Christopher, with our newest addition to our family, Maggie, our golden retriever 2018. It was around that time in 2001 that Chris, Mike and I had started doing some serious fishing together and laying the groundwork for our next adventure, Kennebec River Angler. A lifetime of fishing every remote spot and every nook and cranny we could find, helped us to hone our craft for the high quality fishing experience we offer. Our friendship has brought us on a long journey of learning and exploration that we truly enjoy sharing with our guest today. Come join us!

Growing up in New England, Harlan spent a lot of time fishing for Stripers, Bluefish and Bluefin Tuna with friends and family. Cruising around Cape Cod Bay looking for boils of feeding fish will always be one of his favorite things to do. During his time in Vermont he was able to ski as much as possible while also fishing small creeks in his spare time. He moved out to Colorado to attend the University of Denver for a degree in Marketing and decided this was the place to be. Throwing hoppers and streamers while enjoying some ice cold Coors Light with friends is his favorite weekend activity. He's excited to be a part of the Cutthroat team, so stop by and be sure to say what's up.
Jimbo arrived in Vail in December of 1990. He came for the skiing and fell in love with our local Wilderness Areas and the quality of life we all appreciate here in Eagle County. Forrest Boughner started Alpine Running Guides as a way to share his passion for running, and trail running in the mountains. He grew up building tree forts at the base of a 12,000′ mountain and has been enthralled by outdoor challenges since then. Forrest ran competitively through high school and college and can still be seen near the front of trail races. Since hiking the Continental Divide Trail and moving to Montana, Forrest has dedicated most of his time to exploring trails around the West. He is currently working on a project to summit the highest point in each of the 64 mountain ranges in Montana. The Montana Mountain Project has helped Forrest increase his trail knowledge base throughout Montana by exploring little known parts of the state. Forrest has over 14 years of coaching experience working with beginning adult runners, triathletes, state championship high school teams, hikers, and ultra runners of all abilities. He has an extensive knowledge base around all aspects of training and loves working with athletes to customize a training plan that works for them. Forrest firmly believes that all athletes are different and individualized training is the best way to reach one's potential. Whatever your goals are Forrest wants to help you meet them, and enjoy the process along the way! Each training plan is created personally by Forrest and is tailored around your busy schedule, injury history, etc. Forrest is a Missoula based running coach who specializes in trail and mountain running coaching, but got his start running cross country and road races. He approaches training plans with this multi-disciplinary approach to build a plan that works for you.
Olin Glenne has been a resident of the Wood River Valley since 1997, and after working for Sturtevants for 15 years, he became the owner in January, 2013 along with his business partner Ben Jacobson. Olin is originally from Park City, Utah, where his love and dedication to the sport of skiing began. After becoming a three time Junior Olympic champion in skiing, Olin went to Oregon State University on a soccer scholarship where he studied Business and Construction Engineering Management. After a successful college soccer career, Olin continued to find success in skiing as he went on to have four top 10 finishes on the Big Mountain World Tour. Now Olin, his wife Massey, and their daughter Tindsley enjoy all the great things that the Ketchum area has to offer. He still dominates the slopes, winning the locals favorite ski race–the Lane Parrish Memorial Combined Trophy–four times. Skiing is but one of Olin’s many interests, “skiing, cycling and exploring the outdoors are my favorite things to do and why Sturtevants and SVMG is such a good fit for me. In particular, I really enjoy the adventurous outings such as ski mountaineering in the Sawtooths or Lost River Range, linking together unique mountain bike loops in the Pioneer and Smoky Mountains, or seeking out less travelled pieces of water in search of fish that have never been hooked.” “Outside the scope of Sturtevants and SVMG, I love travel, good music, golf, and soccer.” Olin’s extensive knowledge of the Wood River Valley and the surrounding areas and mountain ranges, make him a great guide for any excursion. He also has experience guiding backcountry skiing for Sun Valley Heli Skiing. His dedication to his interests and passions is superseded only by his dedication to his customers and employees. “I look forward to providing our customers and guests with exceptional service and merchandise that will elevate the experience and performance of their outdoor adventures for many years to come!”
Connor grew up in around the ocean and rocks of Southern California. After a few years of rock climbing he was introduced to the mountains of the Sierra Nevada. His love for the mountains was realized following a winter ascent of Mt. Whitney. He found that challenging his physical and mental boundaries made him feel alive and at home atop these snow covered peaks. Connor then left the warmth of California and moved to Colorado where he spent his time ice and mixed climbing and pursuing a career as a mountain guide. From there he has spent time climbing and skiing all around the world. Through the mountains Connor has found happiness and purpose, his focus is sharing this experience with others. After years of hard work Connor was the 185th person in the United States to receive his IFMGA Certification. The International Mountain Guide Certification is the highest standard for guides across the world. This process takes 4-10 years to accomplish. Candidates are evaluated on their ability to guide guests safely across the largest rock, ice, alpine, and ski terrain. Howie is an international UIAGM & AMGA ski and mountain guide. He was fortunate to learn to ski as a toddler and he owned the first p-tex snowboard by Burton in 1987, which he hiked up the groomed runs of East Coast ski resorts. He discovered rock and alpine climbing in 1988 on a trip to the Tetons. The highlight was climbing the Grand Teton via the upper Exum Route with legendary climber and guide Chuck Pratt. Since then, climbing, skiing, and mountain guiding has taken him to many spectacular places, primarily to the Sierra Nevada, Alaska, and throughout the Alps – but also to places like Canada, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Antarctica, and Thailand. He has logged numerous first ascents and ski descents in his personal and professional tenure. Howie has been guiding since 1993, and became one of the first 20 American guides to achieve the IFMGA professional credential in 2001. He was also the first and only American IFMGA guide to pass ski guiding exams on telemark equipment (though he shortly afterward went back to his fixed heel roots). Lately, when not overseeing SMG’s operations, Howie has been getting back to what he loves most – climbing, skiing, guiding, & family. Howie also enjoys flatpicking guitar and can be seen jamming with string musicians throughout the Eastern Sierra. Howie’s wife, Karen, manages their unique mountain shop on Main Street in Bishop, California called Sage to Summit . They own a geodesic dome in Big Pine, but recently moved back to Bishop where they currently live with their amazing son Cosmo and dog Wheeler.

Mike Slepesky is a husband, father, teacher, and fly fishing fanatic. He started off, like most, fishing conventionally on spin fishing gear and using worms. As time went on, the next challenge was always what gave him the most thrill. Over time, he grew to be a proficient spin angler and targeted Large and Smallmouth bass in rivers, lakes, and ponds. As that obsession grew stale, the next adventure and challenge was trout, specifically on the fly rod. Since his first fish caught on the Gunpowder River, he has been hooked and fishes regularly in a variety of local streams and rivers. In 2018, Mike turned his hobby into an educational opportunity. He created the YouTube Channel "Tight Lining MD", which has grown to have more than 4,000 followers and over 200,000 views. In that time, he has shared tips, tricks, and techniques to help those who watch his videos. The mission for starting that channel was to help ease the learning curve of those getting into the sport, or trying a new way of fly fishing. This determination and passion to educate naturally led him to guiding. With over 10 years of experience fly fishing, and likely thousands of hours spent on the water trying new techniques, it was now time to share that knowledge more personally with people on the waters. The goal of the guide service is to help people learn more about the wonderful world of fly fishing, show them new water, or a new way to approach it, as well as hopefully land a few fish.

New River Mountain Guides is a climbing school owned and run by active rock climbers. Our instructors are accomplished climbers in their own right, but you'll probably never hear them brag about it unless pressed. It isn't enough for our instructors to be a "strong rock climber or a cool guy/gal." They also have to be great teachers with a positive attitude, who are able to connect with our clients not only professionally but personally. Our instructors are here to help mentor you through your learning experience. You won't be treated as anything less than equal because we were all new climbers once and our goal is to not just take you climbing, it's to teach you how to do it on your own and do so safely.
We strive to share the vertical world, and give you a whole new vision from the summits of the Black Hills. The Sylvan Rocks story started in 1974 when founder Susan Scheirbeck was taken rock climbing, but not taught anything about what was going on. Without any explanation of knots, gear, proper communication, anchor systems, safe rappel skills, or even how to move on the rock, she was taken up routes far too difficult for her to enjoy. After an experience like that, many people would have never touched the rock again, but that initial experience prompted Susan to found Sylvan Rocks Climbing School and Guide Service 15 years later.
Capt. Tom infuses his passion for people, fishing, and Nantucket into a charter experience that stands alone. His emphasis on your enjoyment and light tackle fishing created a loyal following that continues to grow. This success allows us to run 4 boats specifically designed for fishing around Nantucket. This is only possible thanks to an amazing crew that combine over a century of fishing on Nantucket and the same great enthusiasm for fishing and people that attract people to Tom himself. Whether you've mastered the sport, want to try it for the first time, or simply love the water and great company, we hope you make us part of your Nantucket experience.

Thunderstruck Adventures is proud to be a family-owned & operated company. Professional snowmobile rider and founder, Clay Hockel, grew up in Minnesota and was instantly hooked on mountain riding after the first trip his dad took him on to the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming. Right after that trip and as soon as high school was let out for summer, Clay went to work at his summer job to save enough money to buy his own mountain-specific snowmobile. After one summer of working 6 days a week from sun up to sundown, Clay had enough money saved up to purchase his first snowmobile, an Arctic Cat M1100 Turbo. Clay’s passion for snowmobiling from such a young age created many opportunities for him. At the age of 16, he was able to work for a start-up company that specialized in aftermarket performance parts for snowmobiles, Evolution Powersports. This job gave Clay the opportunity to ride with some of the best snowmobilers in the world from Team Thunderstruck. It didn’t take Clay long to realize that he wanted to become a professional rider someday and be able to share the passion he has for snowmobiling with others through a backcountry adventure like Thunderstruck Adventures. Just like Clay worked to save up enough money to buy his first sled, he was back at work now to push his riding abilities to become a pro rider. One thing led to another in his pursuit to go pro, and before he knew it, he was a sponsored rider for Yamaha USA and was invited to join the most elite group of snowmobilers in the world, Team Thunderstruck. With a desire for snowmobiling and business, Clay pursued his college education for business at none other than Steamboat Springs Colorado Mountain College. It was here that he started to really get his interest in launching a backcountry snowmobiling adventure. After college & after 5 years of riding for Team Thunderstruck, Clay knew it was time to start exploring his desire to have a backcountry adventure that he could share his passion of riding with others. When the previous owner of Thunderstruck decided he was ready to pass on Thunderstruck Films and hang things up, Clay saw the opportunity and ran with it. Thus, purchasing the world renowned Thunderstruck Films and then launching Thunderstruck Adventures from there.

Elk Mountain Expeditions opened its doors in 2012 with the intent to bring a more personalized experience to the Aspen whitewater rafting and fly fishing industry. The owners, Lange, James and Conor, grew up together in Aspen exploring and working on the rivers of Colorado. Still their favorite place to raft and play was the Roaring Fork River, flowing through the heart of Aspen, their home. It was a natural progression for them to take their passion for this free-flowing river and find a way to share it with their clients. They love what they do and continually strive to hire like minded guides who truly love floating downstream. After working with many river companies around the country, Elk Mtn was formed with the vision to create adventures that focus on client experience as opposed to the bottom line. Smaller trips with highly trained guides and attention to detail are what set us apart. The team at Elk Mtn is committed to providing excellent customer experiences on and off the water. Come out and see the difference a passionate and dedicated team can make on your next river adventure. We are excited to share Aspen’s beautiful rivers with you and your family.

Camp Exodus provides an affordable wilderness adventure ministry to the poverty stricken, widowed, orphaned and faith based groups in hopes to share the Gospel with our community.
My guides and I believe in trying to control every aspect of your guided fishing trip because we can’t control weather or the fish bite. Our vehicles, boats and tackle are all meticulously maintained and of the highest quality. Our lunches excellent. Chuck Hawkins is a FFF Certified Fly Casting Instructor and most of our guides are US Coast Guard Captains. We are patient teachers and knowledgeable guides. This attention to detail and the love of what we do is why we were awarded the Orvis Endorsed Guide Service of the Year in 2010. We guide primarily full days, 7 to 8 hours on the water. We also offer half day trips, depending on the time of year. Please refer to our page “ booking a trip ” for more detailed information. All of our prices include the use of rods and reels and flies for one or two anglers. Depending on location and time of year, we may be in one of our western style drift boats, a jet sled or a smaller raft to get us into smaller waters not readily accessible. Wading trips are an option but rarely the best way to cover water. They can be great ways to run a trip focused more on learning than fish catching. Hawkins Outfitters is not a shop or a lodge. We don’t want to be tied to one river or area or sell you equipment you don’t need. We are also happy to refer you to our lodging partners when booking a trip. My guides and I don’t have other jobs, we guide. On our days off we fish! Learning new water and/or new techniques is our lifeblood. Hawkins Outfitters stands ready, willing, and able to take you fishing on any river, anytime.

Kennebec River Angler was founded by three very avid, some call us rabid, fishermen. As friends and whitewater rafting guides for over 20 years, Mike, Greg, and I have shared some great fishing adventures throughout the State of Maine. During these extended trips, our campfire conversations centered on the dream of putting together a guide service to showcase the great fishing we enjoy. The time finally became right for this to happen and we are proud to showcase our services as Kennebec River Angler. We offer outstanding fly fishing float trips in Maine’s Kennebec, Dead, and Penobscot River regions, for Maine’s four major cold water fish species right from our doorstep. Acrobatic landlocked salmon, rugged brown trout, frisky rainbow trout, and the legendary brook trout abound . Our smallmouth bass trips are geared for both spin fishing and fly fishing making them perfect for beginners, kids and experienced anglers alike. Full day and half-day smallmouth bass trips provide flexibility to your busy summer vacation schedule. Our full day trips offer you a chance at a true trophy smallmouth in the 5 pound range and our half day trips provide fast action with 30-50 fish landed in a single trip. Spend time with our knowledgeable and experienced guides who will assist in tackle selection, fish location and proven techniques, all while you enjoy the beauty of our remote locations. From true tail-water fisheries below Maine’s hydroelectric dams, to freestone sections of braided river, and remote mountain lakes and ponds, we have a variety of outstanding water to choose from. Each of our trips includes a Registered Maine Guide and we supply transportation to and from your local accommodation to the river. Fly rods, spinning gear, flies and tackle are all supplied by us allowing you to travel lightly, but feel free to bring your own gear with you. We also provide snacks and water along with a hearty riverside lunch on full day trips. All our trips are catch and release so be sure to bring your camera! You’ll also want to bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and rain gear (rain jackets and pants are highly recommended as we do fish in the rain).

Cutthroat Anglers is the premier fly fishing shop and guide service in the state of Colorado. Based in Silverthorne, our shop has been a staple in Summit County for more than two decades. When legendary fisherman Trapper Rudd first opened our doors on the banks of the Blue River in 1999, he started with the conviction that flies are the backbone of a solid fly fishing shop. Our selection of more than 150,000 flies is still something we’re proud to maintain all of these years later, and we still believe it’s why we’ve stayed the preferred shop of many local guides in the area – even ones outside of our roster. We pride ourselves on our selection of gear, focusing on only the best brands for fly fishing enthusiasts of all levels and price points. In an interview with Colorado Life Magazine in the early 2000s, Trapper said, “We always try to get new products into the hands of our guides before we expose them to the customers.” That still remains true today. Our hope is that you never leave the shop with unanswered questions or empty hands. Even though Trapper Rudd has since passed, if you visit the shop today, you’ll still see many of the other details he added that made Cutthroat a cult-classic in Summit County all those years ago. Behind the counter, you’ll still find wood from a more than 100 year-old Leadville barn. When you’re at the counter, don’t forget to look up! You’ll still see an antique canoe that Trapper intentionally hung upside down so people could see the wear and tear of a time-worn, well-loved boat hull. In fact, one of the most tenured guides at the shop used to jokingly tell customers that the boat was still used for “Basic Economy Float Trips.” We promise not to do that to you if you come to see us.
Paragon Guides began in 1978 as a small guiding company prior to merging with two other companies in 1985. Buck Elliott, Paragon’s president and director, has designed the company to represent a consortium of guides who have a personal and professional commitment to the guiding profession. Paragon’s guides are carefully chosen on the basis of their outdoor background, personalities, and genuine love of the wilderness. A variety of backgrounds are represented that range from Outward Bound and NOLS instructors, National Park Rangers and local mountaineers; all sharing an appreciation for and a broad depth of experience in the outdoors. All guides have minimum certifications and training for medical emergencies in Wilderness First Responder or EMT, and CPR. Our Guide Training Programs cover everything from backcountry risk assessment, emergency management, annual avalanche training, local flora and fauna, outdoor cooking, personalities and group dynamics, leadership training and an ongoing evaluation and sharing of personal mountaineering skills. We are well aware that the quality of your trip depends a great deal on the quality of your guides and we are constantly building our skills accordingly. Our philosophy is to share with you a quality outdoor experience while providing opportunities for you to discover the backcountry on your own.

A collective of professional mountain guides and inspired locals who are passionate about far-flung travel adventures, cultural exploration and exchange, and human-powered travel in the backcountry. The name “40 Tribes” is a reference to the Epic of Manas, the traditional poem that describes the origin of the Kyrgyz people. As the story goes, the warrior and now national hero, Manas, united the original forty tribes who occupied the region to defend their ancestral homeland against Chinese and Mongol invasion. The tale is a critical part of Kyrgyz ethnic identity and has been recited for centuries by generations of nomadic families. Today, a 40-ray sun representing the original 40 Tribes is the central emblem of the Kyrgyz national flag, and also our logo.
