Justin grew up in the Appalachian foothills of North Georgia and began his guiding career after graduating from Georgia Tech with a major in Mechanical Engineering. While in school, Justin began his climbing career on the beautiful granite domes in North Carolina. Justin then moved to Washington where he focused more on technical glacier and ice climbing routes. Some of his favorite climbs in North America include the North Ridge of Mount Baker, the Nose on El Capitan, and the West Ridge of Forbidden Peak in the North Cascades. Justin then began his guiding career in Washington on Mount Rainier.
Since then, he has guided on the alpine rock of the Eastern Sierra in California and the frozen waterfalls around Ouray, Colorado. Justin has successfully led Denali expeditions with 3 summits. Internationally, Justin has led expeditions to 6000 meter peaks in South America, Nepal, and loves to explore new mountain ranges around the world. When not climbing, Justin enjoys backcountry skiing and slalom water skiing.
Justin is a Leave No Trace Trainer and has training in Wilderness First Responder and AIARE Pro 1. Additionally, Justin is pursuing his IFMGA guide certification.
