The BFFIA was incorporated as a nonprofit, private sector organization in the city of Nassau, The Bahamas on August 17, 2012 with the following objectives:
To establish solidarity amongst all stakeholders in the industry
To provide advocacy and strong lobby to influence favorable public policy
To facilitate training and research to benefit industry practitioners
To take the lead on strategic global marketing initiatives for the sector
To promote conservation efforts and best practices
To socially and economically empower Bahamians living in local communities
The affairs of The Bahamas Fly Fishing Industry Association are conducted by a talented and experienced team of industry professionals in a manner consistent with transparent internationally accepted standards. Our board of directors is comprised of guides and lodge owners from around The Bahamas, elected by members to serve for a term of two years, as well as a fulltime executive director.
The vision of The BFFIA is to partner with government, the travel trade, local communities and other relevant stakeholders to position The Islands of The Bahamas as the global leader in sustainable shallow water fly fishing.
The mission of The BFFIA is to serve as the representative voice of the industry, and provide support services in fulfillment of the social, economic and environmental aspirations of its members.
