Timberline Mountain Guides is a team professional guides who value training and education. Owner, Cliff Agocs is an IFMGA Guide, and most of the team is made up of Certified Rock, Ski and Alpine Guides, and Avalanche Educators. Our guides are fun, knowledgeable stewards of the land.
Together we lead climbing and skiing experiences throughout Oregon and Washington, Japan and Europe. We instruct technique, movement, technical skills and of course, lead summit attempts on the classic climbs of the Pacific Northwest.
We believe that climbing and skiing in the mountains inspires us, exposes us to beautiful natural wonders, and creates bonds between people that transcend daily life. In short, it makes us feel more alive. If you feel inspired by challenging adventures in the mountains, we'd like to share our knowledge with you.

Ski Descent of Mt Hood
Often, the best way to climb Hood is also to ski Hood. We can work with you to find the best objective for you, but significant previous experience is required. Your day will begin early in order to catch the first chair. If, due to weather, the lifts aren’t running, it’s time to put on skins and head uphill. Either way, we’re aiming to bring our skis as close to the summit as we’re comfortable.

Mt Hood Summit Program
Summit Mount Hood! This snowy peak towers above Oregon, inspiring climbers and non-climbers alike. It’s glaciated flanks hint at Hood’s notoriously stormy conditions. This makes it both difficult and beautiful to ascend. Climbers come from all over the world to stand on the summit of Mount Hood. Our goal is to help you get there, with a little education, training, and encouragement along the way.

Mount Washington North Ridge Rock
The North Ridge of Mount Washington is a great alpine rock climb, placing the climber on a dramatic peak with spectacular panoramic views. This one day climb combines a fun approach hike before gaining the sweeping North Ridge of Mount Washington. After our steady climb up the ridge we will launch into a couple short pitches of low 5th class rock before finding ourselves on one of the more dramatic peaks in the Oregon Cascades. The North Ridge is the perfect climb for those looking to add rock climbing to their repertoire of alpine climbing skills.

Mixed Climbing Intro Clinic
While we may not always have the best ice in Oregon, we do have more frozen rock than you can shake a tool at. Come get yourself primed for the alpine or just pumped silly for fun on the finest steep choss the Cascades have to offer. This one-day clinic will introduce you to the fundamentals of the modern mixed game, covering everything from the tools and tricks of the trade to dry-tooling and movement on steep rock and various other frosty mediums.
Whether you’re focused on big alpine routes or just good, clean, winter fun, with the right technique and some practice, you’ll be amazed how quickly you can step up your game. Plus who knew climbing rocks with ice tools could be so enjoyable?
No prior mixed climbing experience is required, but you’ll probably have more fun if you’ve done some rock and/or ice climbing before. The amount of actual ice available to climb varies with our beloved northwestern weather, but while route conditions vary, we can go climbing regardless. A longtime mixed aficionado and first ascensionist from Bend to beyond, Chris can’t wait to take you on a tour of his latest creations.
