Our weeklong powder skiing safari in Niseko, located on the western side of Hokkaido, Japan, offers a world-class adventure through the region's legendary powder. Nestled among stunning backcountry terrain and world-renowned ski resorts, Niseko is the perfect base for this unique experience. Every day is customized to the weather and conditions, ensuring you get the best possible skiing.

Each day’s focus is on skiing deep powder, unwinding in traditional Japanese onsens (hot springs), and savoring delicious regional food. We combine lifts at resorts—enjoying both inbounds and "side-country" runs—with full backcountry skiing to maximize the day's turns and vertical. Whatever it takes to find the deepest snow, that's the approach we take!

Our goal is to seek out the best snow Hokkaido has to offer. Some days we may opt for resort lifts to enjoy endless powder, while other days, we take the scenic route and earn our turns in the backcountry. With a guide breaking trail for you, you can focus on the fun, knowing you're in good hands.

Beyond skiing, we immerse ourselves in the rich food and culture of Japan. After a day of adventure, we recharge in a traditional onsen and indulge in local delicacies. Local traditions and attractions are also part of the experience, giving you a true taste of Hokkaido’s culture.

Join us on an unforgettable winter escape that combines breathtaking beauty, exhilarating skiing, and a unique overnight experience.

We will start our trip at the base of Mount Washington where we will make sure everyone has the needed equipment for the trip.  From there, we will skin over 4000 feet to the summit.  This climb is not to be underestimated and may require us to use ice axes and crampons.  If time and conditions allow, we will try to get some bonus skiing in as well!  

Once we arrive at the summit, we will be greeted with snacks and hot drinks by the Observatory staff, and they will help us settle in and relax for the evening. After introduction, a safety briefing and tour of the facility, we will unwind and relax.  Dinner is prepared family style, and no one leaves hungry!  

After a good night's sleep in the communal bunks, we will have a hearty breakfast and ready for the amazing experience of skiing off the Summit of Mount Washington, with fresh legs!  We have lots of options for skiing back to the bottom which will be determined by the weather, avalanche conditions and group abilities/ desires.  We will return to the parking lot mid to late afternoon where we will celebrate and say our goodbyes.

Master the fundamentals of avalanche awareness, terrain analysis, and rescue in this immersive 3-day backcountry course led by an internationally certified mountain guide.

The AIARE 1 course offers a comprehensive three-day, 24-hour introduction to managing avalanche hazards. Students will learn how to effectively prepare for and execute a backcountry trip, make fundamental field decisions, and master the rescue techniques necessary to locate and excavate a buried individual in the event of an avalanche involving a party member.

AIARE 1 is ideal for individuals seeking to engage in activities in or near avalanche-prone areas. While prior awareness classes, workshops, or the Avalanche Rescue course may be beneficial, none are required to enroll in AIARE 1. Those aiming for professional advancement must complete both AIARE 1 and the Avalanche Rescue course before progressing to the Pro 1 course.
